Baptism

Baptism is a way to publicly declare your faith in Jesus. It is a way to follow the example of Jesus and is evidence of salvation, not a requirement of it.

Step One: Initiate Interest

During the final invitation hymn near the end of our worship service, you are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary to speak with the pastor about your interest in becoming baptized.

Step Two: Conversation

Have a conversation to see if you are ready to be baptize and to pick a date.

Step Three: Get Baptized

We will all celebrate with you as you take this next step of following Jesus.

What is Baptism?

Baptism is a way to go public with your faith to show others that you have started a personal relationship with Jesus. It is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.

What about infant baptism/christening?

Some churches choose to christen or baptize infants. While we recognize the right of other churches to practice infant baptism, we understand Scripture to teach that only people who have made the decision to follow Jesus should be baptized. Baptism does not make you a Christian. It shows that you already are one.
